How To Install Everydrop Water Filters


Nearly one-third of all Americans use water filters to clean their drinking water, with refrigerator filters one of the most popular. The Everydrop water filters fit many brands of fridges and need to be replaced every 6 months, so it is important to know how to install your Everydrop filter correctly in your fridge for maximum filtration.

To install an Everydrop water filter, remove the lid and O-ring coverings. Locate the filter housing area in either the upper right-hand corner of the refrigerator or in the left-hand side of the refrigerator’s base grill. Open the filter cover, remove the old filter by either pulling directly outwards, or rotating counter-clockwise. Install the new filter in the same manner, and flush four gallons of water through the dispenser.

Always ensure you have the correct model of Everydrop filter prior to installation, and replace the filter every 6 months. Also, if you detect a change in the taste of your water or poor water flow then it means it’s time to install a new filter. How to Install the Everydrop Water Filter 1

STEP ONE: Double-check that you have the right filter.

  • The Everydrop Water Filter 1 has a purple cap and the stock unit number is EDR1RXD1. It removes 28 different contaminants from water, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, parasites, metals and minerals.

Note: You can’t put filter 1 on a refrigerator that uses filter 2 and vice versa.

STEP TWO: Remove your new filter from the box.

  • Remove the filter from its packaging.
  • Remove the purple cap from the top of the filter and the coverings on the O-rings, but make sure the black O-rings are still in place when doing so.

STEP THREE: Look in your refrigerator for the filter position. 

  • Filter 1 is usually found inside the refrigerator at the upper right-hand corner of the ceiling or the base grille.

STEP FOUR:  Remove the old filter.

  • If you already have a filter in the refrigerator, the filter will be released and expelled somewhat from the housing as you open the filter cover door.
  • Remove it when the door is entirely open by pulling it straight out.
  • Remember to have a towel nearby because the old filter may leak water.

STEP FIVE: Install the new filter.

  • You can now install your new filter.
  • Hold the filter in place so that the arrow at the cartridge’s end is appropriately aligned.
  • Align the replacement filter with the opening and gently push it into the hole, and the door will begin to close as you do so.
  • Close the filter cover door by pressing firmly on it until it clicks shut.
  • When you are finished, run four gallons of water through your water dispenser before consuming it. This helps to remove any air and promotes the Everydrop filter’s quick floor performance.

How to Install the Everydrop Water Filter 2

STEP ONE: Confirm if you have the correct filter

  • The Everydrop Water Filter 2 has an orange cap and the stock unit number is EDR2RXD1. It removes 28 different contaminants from water, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, parasites, metals, minerals and industrial chemicals.

STEP TWO: Remove the filter from the packaging

  • Remove the from the wrapping and packaging.
  • Remove the orange cap, but be careful not to remove the two black o-rings in the process.

STEP THREE: Look for the filter position in your refrigerator

  • Find your filter cover in the upper right-hand corner of your fridge
  • Pull open the filter cover/door

STEP FOUR: Remove the old filter

  • To remove the old filter pull on it slightly so it is angled down, then turn the filter cartridge slowly to the left and pull gently, drawing it out.
  • Remove the cap and place it in a safe place, for you will need it later.

STEP FIVE: Install the new Everydrop filter

  • Replace your old filter with the cap you placed aside earlier and press it back inside making sure the arrow is pointing upward -as you push in, the filter will begin to turn clockwise.
  • Continue to turn the filter clockwise until it locks
  • When you are through, close the filter door so that it snaps or clicks into place

How to Install the Everydrop Water Filter 3

STEP ONE: Ensure you have the correct filter at hand

  • The Everydrop Water Filter 3 has a light blue cap and the stock unit number is EDR3RXD1. It removes 73 different contaminants from water, including chlorine, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, parasites, metals, minerals and industrial chemicals, improving both the taste and odor of your water.

STEP TWO: Remove the filter from its packaging.

  • Remove the filter from its packaging.
  • Take the blue cap from the top of your filter and remove the O-ring coverings – however avoid getting the two black O-rings caught in the cap while removing it.

STEP THREE: Look in your refrigerator for your filter. 

  • You will locate the filter housing area on the left-hand side of the fridge’s base grill

STEP FOUR: Remove the old filter.

  • Do that by pushing and holding the eject button while drawing the filter cap straight out.
  • Remove the filter cartridge cover by rotating it anticlockwise until the ridges line, and it comes out.
  • Remove the filter cap from the end of the cartridge, but don’t throw it away.
  • As is customary, water may leak, so keep a towel available.

STEP 5: Install the new filter.

  • Install the new filter by aligning the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the filter.
  • Place the cartridge cap you removed from the old filter on the new filter and turn it clockwise until it stops and clicks into place.
  • Hold the cap and filter unit together by the cap’s lip, with the filter cartridge arrow facing up.
  • Push the new filter into the hole after aligning the filter and cap unit with the aperture in the grill base.
  • The eject button will pop back out once the filter is completely inserted.

How to Install the Everydrop Water Filter 4

STEP ONE: Check to see if you have the correct filter number.

  • The Everydrop Water Filter 4 has a green cap and the stock unit number is EDR4RXD1. It removes 31 different contaminants from water, including chlorine, pesticides, parasites, metals, minerals and industrial chemicals.

STEP TWO: Locate your holder.

  • The filter housing area for the Everydrop filter 4 is located inside on the upper right-hand corner of your fridge.
  • The filter coverings can release in one of two ways: push or pull. If your filter tab is facing outward – push and then pull the cover down, if your filter tab is located on the bottom of the filter cover you will need to pull forward and down on the lever.
  • If you are installing the water filter for the first time, you will see a cap.
  • Turn the bypass cap to the left and pull straight out; preserve the bypass cap because you will need it to install your filter.

STEP THREE: Remove your old filter

  • Remove your filter by turning it counter-clockwise and pulling it straight out when it releases.
  • It is perfectly usual for excess water to leak, so do not be worried about that.

STEP FOUR: Install your new filter

  • Install the new filter by aligning the Everydrop filter with the grooves in the refrigerator. Push in until it fits, with the threads towards the rear.
  • Turn the filter counterclockwise until it comes to a halt.
  • Lift the filter cover from below and press it shut until it clicks closed.

STEP FIVE: Activate it

  • When you are through, run four gallons of water through your water dispenser to activate it before using it.

STEP ONE: Confirm if you have the correct filter

STEP TWO: Remove the filter from the Wrapper

  • Remove the filter from its packaging.
  • Remove the lid from the O-rings and open it carefully without tampering with them.

STEP THREE: Look for the filter position in your refrigerator

  • Locate the filter cartridge housing area on the front base grill of your fridge – you should see the water filter cartridge cap.

STEP FOUR: Remove the old filter

  • Remove the old filter if you already had one installed by spinning the filter cartridge cap clockwise and pulling it straight out.
  • Remove the filter cartridge cap by sliding it off the end of the cartridge, but keep it since you will need it to install the new filter.

STEP FIVE: Install the new EveryDrop filter

  • By aligning the ridge on the filter, insert the filter cartridge cap you removed from the old filter onto your new filter.
  • Push the filter and cap unit back in slowly, with the handle in the vertical position
  • Slowly push it back in until it stops, then rotate it clockwise to ensure it is secure.

How to Install the Everydrop Water Filter 6

STEP ONE: Confirm if you have the right filter

  • The Everydrop Water Filter 6 has a dark blue cap and the stock unit number is EDR6D1. It removes 9 different contaminants from water, including pesticides, metals and industrial chemicals.

STEP TWO: Remove the filter from the packaging

  • Remove the filter from its box.
  • Remove the dark blue lid and any coverings on the O-rings, but ensure you don’t interfere with the two O-strings while doing so.

STEP THREE: Look for the filter position in your refrigerator

  • Find the filter housing area on the front base grill of your fridge – you should see the water filter cartridge cap.

STEP FOUR: Remove the old filter

  • Remove the old filter if you already had one installed by spinning the filter cartridge cap clockwise and pulling it straight out.
  • Remove the filter cartridge cap by sliding it off the end of the cartridge, but keep it since you will need it to install the new filter.

STEP FIVE: Install the new EveryDrop filter

  • By aligning the ridge on the filter, insert the filter cartridge cap onto your new filter.
  • Push the filter and cap unit back in slowly, with the handle in the vertical position
  • Slowly push it back in until it stops, then rotate it clockwise to ensure it is secure.

How to Install the Everydrop ice 2

STEP ONE: Check that you have the right ice filter

  • Confirm you have the Everydrop ice 2 filter – it should come in black packaging and the stock unit number F2WC9I1.

STEP TWO: Remove the new ice filter from packaging

  • Remove the ice filter from its box and take the cover from the o-rings.
  • Double-check that the O-rings are still in place and there is no debris or dust from the packaging adhering to them.

STEP THREE: Locate ice maker position

  • Locate the accessory packet in the ice maker.
  • On the right hand side of the ice maker are the controls fir the water filter.
  • To release the latch, push in on the door and then lower it.

STEP FOUR: Install your Everydrop ice 2

  • Connect the water filter to the filter wrench by utilizing the arrow on the side of the filter pointing to the alignment pin and the arrow within the control housing.
  • Insert the filter into the housing after aligning the alignment pin with the cut-out notch.
  • Turn the filter counterclockwise until it clicks into place to be fully installed.

Note: The ice maker will not produce ice if the filter is not locked correctly into the housing.

How long does the EveryDrop filter last?

Everydrop filters are designed to last 6 months and have a capacity of 200 gallons (757 liters). Depending on your usage, your filter may last longer than the recommended 6 months. However, there is not filter indicator to advise you when your filter has reached its maximum capacity. It is advisable to change your Everydrop filter every 6 months to ensure maximum filtration of your water.

How do you flush an EveryDrop water filter?

An Everydrop water filter can be flushed by running four gallons of water through the water dispenser, prior to consuming any water. Place a container below the dispenser to collect the water, then dispose of it. Each time an Everydrop water filter is replaced, or installed it should be flushed before consumption.

Most manufacturers recommend running three to five gallons of water through your refrigerator’s water filter before drinking it because it helps remove any air and promotes the filter’s quick floor performance.
